About Annemie

I experience the physical world as heartbreakingly beautiful and feel compelled to celebrate it through art making. This joy and reverence are laced through with sadness, personal sadness about mutability and death and larger sadness about the state of Earth.
My subjects are for the most part nature, women, and the opposing poles of celebration and catastrophes. I paint in an intimate, detailed, somewhat fantastic style, inspired by the early Renaissance.
I am always drawing and painting and in my travels I record the various landscapes in small watercolors or oils.
